Student DFL
The purpose of the Morris Student DFL is quite simple: Get Democrats Elected. There are multiple strategies that this years Student DFL will implement to achieve this goal. We first have the difficult task of making politics interesting and exciting. The reason for overwhlemingly poor turnout among 18-24 year olds stems from the fact that few candidates attempt to reach these voters and are largely out of touch with that demographic. Student DFL provides a fun and approachable way to enter the political world. Once we achieve a certain level of participation we can effectively orchestrate door-knocking for DFL candidates, perform literature drops for the entire party, and run an effective and robust Get Out The Vote(GOTV) campaign. This was done in the 2004 Presidential election and produced a 80% turnout on campus. Members will gain valuable experience that will provide them not only with a resume builder but also with a more advanced insight into the workings of the political world.
